The Swedish Gambling Research network (GARN) held its third meeting on May 8-9. About 17 people participated in the network meeting, which was held in Strängnäs
Our invited guest Anssi Airas from the Finnish Foundation for Gaming Research told us about gambling studies in Finland. We discussed the possibilities of future collaboration between our organizations and agreed that it would be very valuable.
The Swedish Gambling Authority invited us for a study visit. We learnt many things about the gambling market, gambling regulation and how illegal gambling is counteracted.
Day two of the meeting included presentations on a wide range of topics, such as: the Swedish longitudinal study, reports from the national helpline for problem gamblers, evaluation of responsible gambling measures and the future of gambling regulation.
The next GARN meeting will be held in Stockholm, November 20-21.
